GP referral renewal

Medicare requires an in-date referral to be able to claim the Medicare rebate.   Referrals are valid for 12 months, please check with reception when your referral expires.    This includes Department of Veterans' Affairs & Workers Compensation patients.   While we endeavour to send SMS reminders for expiring referrals,  it is also the patient's responsibility to ensure they have a current GP referral on file.

Prescription requests without an appointment

Your Doctor may be able to provide a script without and appointment.  This will vary depending on your medication, the duration between appointments and the legislation of Authority scripts (S8 Schedule Drugs).  There may be a fee for scripts outside of an appointment.    Please note most of our doctors do operate with us part-time  and may not be able to produce prescriptions within 7 days.   Your GP may be able to assist you with medication advice or urgent prescriptions.  Your pharmacist may also be able to offer advice in some circumstances.

Cancellation policy and non attendance

Appointments cancelled within 24hrs may incur a cancellation fee equivalent to the full cost of a standard appointment.Appointments cancelled within 48 hours may incur a half fee. Please note there is no medicare rebate available for a cancellation fee.If you have confirmed your appointment by sms or email and then do not attend on the day then the cancellation policy may apply.

For patients that are under a Work Cover claim or are Veterans Affairs patients,  please be aware that they do not cover cancellation fees and the patient is responsible for payment.

Providing reports for Department of Veterans' Affairs | Workers Compensation | Legal matters | NDIS/Centrelink | Roads and Transport Licensing

Our doctors can review report requests.  Report writing may incur a fee if completed out side of an appointment and an invoice will be provided along with a time frame for when the report will be completed.  Please be aware that AMA does not have associated item numbers available for report writing fees.  The psychiatrists within our practice are consulting psychiatrists therefore, have set their own report fees based on the reading time needed to review patient history, read related legislation, apply current clinical best practice and answer the required report questions.  Murrumbateman Specialist Centre therefore has varying fees depending on the length and complexity of the requested report.  We ask if any requests could be emailed or faxed with as much information as possible.

*Please note, our Psychiatrists & Psychologists are not specialised in Forensics and are unable to provide court reports for criminal proceedings.
